You might have been to Bali, but have you explored the offshore islands of Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Penida, which are all a short boat ride away? If you’re into rugged landscapes of cascading waterfalls, beautiful rock formations, clear blue waters and pristine beaches, exploring these islands – especially the latter – will definitely be your cup of tea. If you don’t have much time here, make sure you don’t miss out on a trip to Kelingkling Beach. This is where you’ll find a cliff shaped like a giant T-Rex that’s taking a sip from the sea. Choose to trek on its “spine” for some incredible vistas, or climb all the way to the beach at its base for even more spectacular photos!

2. Zurich, Switzerland

Plan a trip to the largest city in Switzerland and its outlying areas if you’re one to love chocolates, fondue, as well as amazing panoramas of snow-capped mountains. After all, Zurich is only an hour away from the foot of the Swiss Alps – where you’ll find saw-toothed, sky-high, and picture-perfect peaks that will take your breath away. Visit in the winter if you’d love to indulge in some winter sports, and make it a point to spend a day or two skiing at some of the many world-famous resorts. And if you’re not up for something too thrilling, try tobogganing or snowtubing – which are equally fun!

3. Tokyo, Japan

Think of Tokyo, and you’ll probably envision the Tokyo Tower, the bustling crossroads of Shibuya, or the bright red Asakusa Shrine. This sprawling Japanese metropolis is home to so many iconic sights, but nature-filled experiences that are by no means any less spectacular are just a regional train ride away.

One spot to head to is Hitachi Seaside Park, which sits right beside the Pacific Ocean. This park is unlike any other, and has something for you no matter which season you are visiting in. If you’re here in the autumn, you’ll witness (and photograph) stunning red kochia bushes that spread out as far as the eye can see. Besides being enthralled by flower fields, you’ll also find a small amusement park, as well as many scenic cycling paths – for a relaxed day away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

4. Colombo, Sri Lanka

If you’re looking to go off-the-beaten path to a place that’s less explored, Sri Lanka is your answer. In Colombo, you’ll find your share of colonial architecture, fruit markets and skyscrapers, but once you leave the city and head to the outskirts of this island situated in the middle of the Indian Ocean, you’ll find ancient cities, majestic elephants, cave temples, and many UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

One place that you shouldn’t miss out on is Sigiriya, where you’ll find fortress ruins perched atop a massive rock. If you’d like to visit, you’ll have to climb 350 metres up, but if not, there are plenty of spots nearby for that perfect shot – especially if it’s during golden hour.

5. Sydney, Australia

Considering a visit to the Emerald City? Besides going cafe hopping and savouring some of the best coffee in the world, you’ll probably want to visit well-known attractions like the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

But who can forget the ocean pools that this city is so famous for? Here, you’ll find over thirty different rock pools to choose from. The one that sees the most crowds and gets the most Insta-fame is definitely the iconic Bondi Icebergs, but its neighbour, Bronte Baths, is equally stunning. For an extra-special Insta-moment: arrive before dawn and snap a photo as the sun rises over the horizon.
